The Digimon franchise started in the late 1990s as a cartoon. Since then, these digital monsters have made their way into the worlds of movies, manga, video games, and several versions of the card game. The Battle of Omni represents the latest set of cards in the newest Digimon TCG, which was released in 2020.

Get your monsters ready

Maybe you’re an old hand at TCGs but you’ve yet to play this game. A lot of the rules and mechanics should feel familiar to you.

To play Digimon, you’ll need a 50-card standard deck, along with a Digitama deck that consists of five cards. You can only have up to four copies of the same card in your deck. After a good shuffle, you take the top five cards off your deck and put them in what’s called the Security Area. These cards comprise your life total. When your Security Area is empty, all it takes is one hit from your opponent and you lose the game. There are four types of cards: Digimon, Digitama, Tamers, and Option cards. You can find all four varieties in the Battle of Omni expansion.
