Are you Ready to Enter the Forgotten Realms?

Magic: The Gathering - Dungeons & Dragons Adventures in the Forgotten Realms

By John Moorehouse

At long last, Wizards of the Coast has merged the world of Dungeons & Dragons with the world of Magic: the Gathering with the latest set of MTG cards. With the official release dropping tomorrow, Mulligan’s Gaming Pub wants to make sure you are prepared fully for the adventures to come!

Roll for Investigation! Here’s what you’ll find in this piece:

  • A look at the mechanics in the Forgotten Realms set
  • Specials and sales during release weekend
  • Why Mulligan’s Gaming Pub is your main source for all things Forgotten Realms!
Begin your dungeon crawl

You can’t spell Dungeons & Dragons without, well, Dungeons. So it’s fitting that a new dungeon card type has been introduced as part of this set. Just keep your dungeon cards in your sideboard; but don’t count them as part of your sideboard total. Certain cards have text that says, “venture into the dungeon.” Anytime you play a card with this keyword action, you can bring a dungeon card into play. Use a venture marker and place it on the first room, located at the top of the card. Every time you play another card with the “venture into the dungeon” text, you will advance to the next room. Completing a dungeon can trigger certain card abilities.

Roll a d20

You know there’s going to be dice rolling in a D&D-themed Magic set. Certain cards will ask you to roll a d20. These cards also contain a results table to show what happens based on your roll. The higher you roll, the better the result for that card and the effect.
